All EYFS teaching within the SPT is largely informed by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework. Our EYFS offer allows children to learn through play and exploration. We incorporate specialist provision with a dedicated and fully trained team to meet each individual’s needs. Working in partnership with parents and other professionals is key to ensuring that each child’s individual needs are met appropriately and that planning for future learning is based on the interests of the child.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
We place great importance on the development of relationships between the children, their peers and the staff in the class team. From their early days, each child is assigned a key worker to begin to form a special relationship, providing security and comfort to the child, building their confidence through our safe, vibrant and child-led environment.
Communication and Language (CL)
We provide a communication rich environment, delivered and differentiated to meet each child’s needs. We support each child to develop their understanding and confidence to express and communicate their needs freely.
Physical Development (PD)
We take pride in keeping our children active. We are lucky to have great outdoor spaces and lots of equipment, accessible to all needs, supporting their confidence in order to try new experiences. Working closely with the supporting professionals, we ensure that exciting opportunities are provided to support our children to make the best possible progress. Our partner therapists support us to ensure the best outcomes for all, regardless of their needs and starting point.
Through the literacy offer we introduce a sensory element to stories and rhymes to foster a love of reading. Sensory-based activities enhance the mark-making experience, ensuring that they are enjoyable, meaningful and memorable.
We use a variety of activities, including song, sorting, measuring and cooking, tailored to suit the needs of each child.
Understanding of the World (UW)
We are lucky in school to have a range of technology and great outdoor spaces for the children to encounter and explore their natural environments.
Expressive Arts and Design (EAD)
Exploring through a variety of activities such as art, dance and music sessions the children are given the opportunity to share their ideas, develop their curiosity and explore their feelings.
Our specialist provisions
Specialist approaches that support each child’s needs within school are an important part of our provision. Advice and guidance from other professionals supports teachers to provide a relevant, stimulating and progressive curriculum for all.
TACPAC and Intensive interaction
Intensive interaction is used to support early communication and to enhance the relationship between the child and the adult. TACPAC sessions combine touch and music to create a sensory communication experience.
An approach that focusses upon the senses, stimulating body movement and sensory systems. The senses are stimulated through familiar song and rhyme.
A sensory approach to story telling that is fully inclusive and accessible for all our children. Using a story that includes more than just the written or spoken word, supports literacy development for all.
Attention Autism sessions
Using an approach developed by Gina Davies, these sessions promote engagement, a sense of wonder and encourage the development of learning behaviours
