The Curnow Pledge
Improving the Quality of Life of students and families.
To compliment our learning pathways and curriculum, we have designed The Curnow Pledge. This will ensure that every learner leaves school with the skills that they need to be able to reach their full potential and lead a purposeful and fulfilling life beyond school.
The pledge covers the following 3 areas with an identified rationale-
Communication - We pledge to give every child an identified communication method that can be understood by the largest possible audience, and used in the widest range of situations.

Independence/interdependence - We pledge to ensure that every Curnow student leaves school having developed the will and the skill to be as independent as possible. They should know that it is ok to ask for help, know who they can ask and be allowed to make mistakes so that they can learn. They should be enabled to practice autonomy and choice throughout every school day.
Sense of Self - We pledge that each student will leave Curnow with confidence and be proud of who they are. They will know what they like and do not like, having learned through real experiences. They will have a way to express likes and dislikes, and they will have the skills to practice what they enjoy. They will have developed an understanding of their emotions and will have been taught ways to self regulate.
For each area, clear documentation shares the aspirational aims, including how this will be implemented in school. We are excited to share this and believe that this work will have a positive and transformative effect on the future lives of our students and their families.
