My name is Lyndsey Barradas and I joined Curnow School as Receptionist & Administrator in March 2015.
I work under the guidance of Business Manager Jan Rixon and enjoy supporting the Curnow staff as part of this administrative structure.
Being the receptionist, I’m the first point of contact that people have with the school and I love this aspect of the role – meeting and greeting visitors old and new and ensuring that a friendly, professional welcome awaits everyone who contacts the school – be it by phone or face to face. A vital part of my meet & greet role is to ensure all visitors understand what the school needs to undertake in regards to safeguarding; I provide all visitors with a copy of our safeguarding literature on arrival in order to maintain the highest standards of compliance with our safeguarding policy.
My role at Curnow is varied and interesting with ‘on the spot’ demands intertwining with set, daily routines. This requires me to be able to juggle and prioritise when several jobs need attention at once - a challenge I enjoy!
My duties include dealing with a wide range of enquiries over the phone, completing the attendance registers on the school system, taking in lunch numbers and transferring those to our kitchen staff and running the text message service which allows me to contact parents, carers and staff (for example, about dinner money or upcoming events). I maintain the filing systems in Front Office and ensure that everything is run smoothly from an admin perspective.
Our reception area can be very busy with visitors, staff and students and I really enjoy working in this environment, surrounded by the hub-bub of school life. It is also a huge privilege to be able to interact with our students and I can see on a daily basis how they progress and flourish here at Curnow.
If you ever need any information in relation to the life of the school, please feel free to give me a call. I will endeavour to help in any way I can or obtain the information needed and get back to you as quickly as possible. I can be contacted via the school's main telephone number - 01209 215432 or via e-mail - firstname.lastname@example.org.
