The Jubilee Challenge!

Read about the fantastic time we had this year at the Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge!

The Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge is definitely a challenge!  From camp set up, to an overnight stay and the 7.5 mile walk across Dartmoor lanes, our students displayed resilience, team skills and determination throughout!

We arrived at Okehampton Camp mid-afternoon, where we decided that in order to be able to set up camp we needed to make sure that everyone was fully fuelled and ready.

As soon as lunch was over, it was all hands on deck to set up camp, including the cookhouse, which was to be Rick and AJ's domain for the stay!

Once we were all set up, we went to investigate the different stalls set up by the armed forces,

and then we were treated to a delicious tea expertly cooked and served by the chef team!

We worked off our tea with a walk to the start line and more exploration.  We also met Steven and Adam who were amazing supports to our team throughout the experience!

After a good night's sleep and breakfast, we headed off to the start line where we met Maddy, who joined us for the walk.

We all worked together to support each other on the walk, and worked really hard as it was a long way over some tough hills!

We all finished together as a team, and were so grateful to Rick and AJ who met us at the end after packing up the whole camp!!  The team worked together back at school to make sure that everything was clean and packed away for next year's camp!

We need to say a huge thank you to Jenni for all of her hard work in getting everything sorted and risk assessed before we could go ahead with the trip, to all the staff who helped and gave up their time to stay overnight and into Saturday so that it could go ahead.  To the parents who made sure that bags were packed and everyone had everything they needed for the night.  To Margaret for bringing Maddy along and walking with us, to Adam and Steven for their support and motivation and to Duncan for supporting us again this year.

Without the whole team, it wouldn't go ahead, and the students would not have been able to have the opportunity to enjoy this fantastic trip!  And well done Team Curnow, you smashed it again!!  Jubilee Challenge, we will see you next year!
