My name is Berny Morcom and I have been a Registered Paediatric Nurse since 2006. I came late into the Nursing Profession following a 22 year career as a Local Authority Housing Officer. I also had a second “Part time” career as a Royal Air Force Regiment Officer based at RAF ST Mawgan among other stations for around 20 years.
In my Nursing career, I have spent time as a Staff Nurse on the Paediatric Wards at RCHT before joining the Children’s Diana Community Nursing Team covering mainly the West of the county. I then left the NHS for a period of just under 3 years and worked at Children’s Hospice South West ‘Little Harbour’ before returning to this position as Special School Nurse here at Curnow Upper and Lower Schools.
I have been in post as Curnow School Nurse since June 2014 and am thoroughly enjoying my role and the variety of different issues and scenarios which can greet me on a daily basis - some more challenging than others!!
As well as working across both Upper and Lower School sites, I also provide nursing cover for the 14-19 year old students attending the Tregoweth Living Skills Unit at Pool Academy.
My door is always open (figuratively speaking at least), should there be any issues you might feel the need to discuss which I can help with concerning your child, or should you just wish to come and say 'Hello'.
